Leaning into and embracing your greatness

Welcome to this week’s Friday Feels newsletter! Snippets from my world of coaching, meditation and breathwork – with the intention to share information that brings joy, wonder and self-reflection.

Let’s go!

1. Song of the week

Fleetwood Mac – Go You Own Way – listen on Spotify and YouTube

At the start of my 1:1 coaching sessions, we begin with a dance off! No, really! Is it silly? Yes! Is it fun? YES!

But it also has a very clear intention: to shake off the day so far, to move your body, to breathe deep, to become embodied and practice letting go. Before we do ANYTHING, we dance!

Today my client and I boogied to Fleetwood Mac. Grab a floaty lacy top and let your inner Stevie Nicks go her own waaaay! (I think Lindsey Buckingham actually sings this song – whatevs).

2. Quote of the week

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

“Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

“We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

― Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles”

This quote. I love it. My mind circles back to it again and again. A client shared with me this week that she noticed she downplays her brilliance. She kind of pretends she’s not as confident. And my mind instantly brought up these beautiful words from Marianne Williamson.

Does playing small sound familiar to you? For women, it totally makes sense as we’ve been persecuted for several hundred years, if not more like 2,000 years. We understand more now about epigenetics and how trauma is passed on through our DNA. This has been shown in longitudinal scientific studies from children of Holocaust survivors and the terrorist attack of 9/11. It makes sense when you consider that we want to pass on information of potential threats to our offspring right? These epigenetic traits are evident in all sorts of creatures – even snakes! I speak about seeing this DNA wisdom with my pet corn snake, Marmalade, in this podcast interview with Dr. Traci Debi. Listen here.

3. Practice of the week

Mirror work! As a business owner, I naturally weave in embodiment and mindset techniques into my work. Mirror Work is a tool you can use when you wish to embody a new belief. WTF is Mirror Work? If you speak what you desire to embody in a mirror, you see yourself saying it aloud. Do this at least 10x times and make eye contact with yourself. By doing this, you fire and wire neural connections in the brain that help your mind-body system to become familiar with the FEELING of having what you desire.

For example, I remember when I first started working for myself, when I would tell someone “I am a mindset coach”, part of me protested “pfft!!!” and rolled its eyes! I didn’t feel authentically embodied yet. It felt awkward to say “I am a mindset coach”. So I used the mirror technique to help bed it in.

My clients love to use Mirror Work! Sure, it feels weird at first. But you’re pretty weird anyway, so go for it 😛

Use this same technique to UP YOUR £££ RATES. Use Mirror Work to start to embody your new income – read how to do this here.

4. Teaching of the week

Your societal conditioning around money.

I really enjoy the grounded, logical approach of finance expert Ramit Sethi. I am working with several clients at the moment to embrace financial hygiene, and this is touched on in this interview with Ramit. I am interested in optimising my life and welcoming in financial flow! If you don’t know your subconscious money blocks, your financial circumstances will change at a glacial pace. But it doesn’t need to be that way. One of my coaching clients is streamlining her finances so she can retire ASAP! Ooof, that’s a tasty goal huh!?

5. Client win of the week

“I am leaving behind ‘mum guilt’.”

Each week, I ask my clients to celebrate their wins and reflections of this week with me – and this is one such gem! After supporting her recovery from burnout, we’ve been digging more into who she really is – beyond the identity of “mum”. Many women can lose their identity in their role as mothers. My client has so beautifully allowed herself to be curious about what other roles and experiences she wants for her life now.

She’s starting to break the pattern of neglecting her own needs to be there for her adult children, knowing that the greatest gift she can give to her family is to live her life for herself. Because then her cup flows over and she gives her children permission to do the same: to live their lives fiercely aligned to their own passions and goals. Hooray to that!

That’s it for this week’s Friday Feels! Have a beautiful May Bank holly.

Big love,
Briony x
