Honouring death and unconditional love

Well, hello there!

How’s your week been? I am sending you this from North Wales! I’m here early, preparing to welcome attendees to my CREATE YOUR OWN REALITY Retreat. This is the 3rd time me + my buddy Craig Seaton have hosted this beautiful retreat.

We’ll be hosting a 4th one some time in November, so get in touch if you want to be updated when the retreat date is confirmed.

If you want to get a feel for what the retreat experience is like, check out me and Craig talking on our Instagram Live – catch the replay here.

Here’s your weekly Friday Feels. With snippets from my world of coaching, meditation and breathwork – with the intention to share information that brings joy, wonder and self-reflection.

1. Song of the week

Hallelujah by MaMuse (listen on Spotify and YouTube)

I led a breathwork session for 22 people this week, at a solstice dip with my cold water crew, Reservoir Doggs. This beautiful female acapella was the final song. It’s an earworm, for sure! My mind has been humming these lyrics all week (and now I pass it onto you hehe!):

“I’m gonna let myself be lifted
Hallelujah
I’m gonna let myself be lifted…”

2. Quote of the week

“And still, after all this time, the Sun has never said to the Earth,‘You owe me’. Look what happens with love like that. It lights up the sky.”

— Rumi

I have been exploring what love means recently. To give without condition, to give without expectation. That’s one of the ways I am interpreting love. With the summer solstice this week, this Rumi quote taps into how nature really is all love. That the sun shines and gives, all the while asking for nothing. I hope you can bask in the loving sunshine at some point this week! And perhaps reflect on what love really means to you…

3. Practice of the week

Honouring death.

When my cat Burnie died recently, I sat on the kitchen floor with her body gently swaddled in a towel. I was still in shock, especially given how she died. I knew I wanted to do some kind of ceremony. I wasn’t sure what to do. So I made it up.

I got my singing bowl, sage and incense. I gently chimed the bowl four times, for the four directions. I allowed the sage smoke to float over her body, as I offered thanks to her. I lit some incense and hummed to her, sending her love.

I let my hands rest on her. I could feel my heart beating in my hands. Which confused me a bit at first – I wasn’t sure if she was still alive, just mortally wounded… but it was just my heart, beating strongly with all the high emotion of it all. Her once bright pink toe beans gradually faded.

Losing human friends over the years, I have become more and more curious about death. I am also interested about how other cultures view death differently. And have a variety of ways to honour this transition. For me, talking about death is important. It seems somewhat bonkers to keep quiet about an event that happens for all of us at some point (notice the language “for us”, not “to us”).

This is another beautiful gift Burnie has given me. To honour her ending, and in doing so, consider more deeply how I want to honour any ending or beginning in life. With more intention, more presence, more love and connection. I want to approach death with an open mind and an open heart. This cyclical world is filled with endings and beginnings.

How do you approach death? Or any ending in your life? I guess we’re all just making it up as we go along! And that’s ok.

4. Teaching of the week

The Story of the Fly.

Do you ever find yourself feeling stuck, and the harder you try, the more stuck you feel? This simple story of a life and death struggle highlights how our efforts can be in vain. A key message is that trying harder to change our fortunes may be part of the problem. Instead if we allow ourselves to shift in perspective or change in direction, it could totally transform our lives. The story is from a book, you² by Price Pritchett.

Hear one of my mentors, Bob Proctor, tell this 3-minute story. It might just change your life!

5. Client win of the week

“I’m feeling excited about my business again since our coaching session.”

Running your own business can be tough at times. It’s a lot of responsibility, and there are many hats to wear (finance, marketing, sales, operations and then doing whatever you actually do!) I love helping female entrepreneurs increase their income. Because when you are earning more money, you are empowered to spread more of that goodness in the world, free from the stress and anxiety that comes with a struggling business.

The great news is, often there’s not a lot that needs to change. Sure, we dig into planning, communication and processes, but the most important ingredient to a successful business is this: self-belief… Why?? Well, if you don’t believe that you can increase your prices, your income will plateau.

If you believe that saying no to clients is going to mean they’ll sack you, you’ll say yes to things you don’t want to and end up feeling resentful.

If you don’t believe that you can create and stick to a plan, you’ll be running a reactive business based on everyone else’s requests.

If you don’t believe you are worthy of a six-figure annual income, you won’t get there.

You get the idea! My client claimed her power back by refocusing on her offering, saying no to work that wasn’t aligned with her vision and increasing her prices. We also had a fun planning session where we mapped out the next 6 months in detail. She went from feeling overwhelmed and stressed at the idea of growing her income, to feeling clear on the road ahead and excited about her growth and taking ownership of it all. Boom! ⭐

I have a couple of coaching spots available, so get in touch to learn more about working together.

That’s it for this week’s Friday Feels!

Big love,

Briony x
